Update re: Aldi

Some of you may remember that I spoke to Saraia at Aldi a few weeks back, gave her a tract, etc.

Well, I have given her many tracts, almost one per trip. One time, I didn't have one, so I said, "Sorry, I don't have anything for you today," and she said, "That's okay," with a small smile which I couldn't read.

Right before the April baseball tryouts, I went in again and I asked her, "If I gave you a book, would you read it?"

"Maybe. What kind of book?" she asked.

"It's a book about people who became Christians."

"Okay. I used to be Christian--that's what I grew up as."

"All right, I'll bring it in next time."

Well, I did bring it in, but she wasn't there. So I made a special trip one day and saw her getting up from the register. I walked right up to her and handed her Stories of Calvary, which is a compilation of twenty testimonies from members of Calvary Chapel St Pete. I had written a message in the front of the book, because she is clearly a homosexual, and I didn't want her to feel unloved. I have never been anything but kind to her in our meetings, and I didn't want to change that.

The message went something like this:

"Saraia, may you come to know the Love of God through Stories of Calvary," and I signed my name.

When I spoke to her yesterday, she said that that was all that she had read in the book. Oh well. It is still in her possession. Please keep praying for her.

And, yes, there are stories of homosexuals who turned to Christ and forsook their former lifestyles. Hey, everyone who becomes a Christian must forsake his present lifestyle, no longer living for himself, but for the One who died for him (2 Corinthians 5:15; Matthew 16:24-26; Luke 14:25-33), so this is not a discriminatory message, but one of redemption from sin. All sin. Including homosexuality, and drug abuse, and heterosexual fornication, and lying, and adultery, and drunkeness, and stealing, and blasphemy, and rebellion, and..., and..., and...the list goes on. Not prejudice, just love.
